and get him to open the safe and he denies that he ever told

his son to go into the Post Office without permission. The

son, who had evidently learnt his story off by heart, corro-

borated this. His account was that he went to the Post

Office and asked for Mr. Kartin, was told by a postman that

Mr. Kartin was not there, and was then allowed in by the

postman in order that he might get the money out of the safe.

The Chinese servant, who seemed a respectable man, corrobo-

No. 43 gave him this information, and that he (Fung) went

and called Mr. Martin.

Mr. Martin at once went into the

Registration and Parcel Branch and found the son and the ser-

vant beside the open safe. Mr. Martin questioned the

son, but the latter apparently did not tell Mr. Martin that

he had been let in by a postman.

the instructions alleged. We found that this charge was not

proved.
